For those of you who may be wondering, yes, the Mighty Megatron has indeed seen the Star Trek movie and is prepared to offer his opinion on it to the masses.

For starters, let me say that I have seen it twice and suffered through the Bayformers trailer as many times in the process so you know that means I enjoyed it vastly. Having said that I would like to provide what I believe is an objective and mostly spoiler free review of the film for those among you too weak-minded to form your own opinions.

First of all, for those of you who would be turned off by an "alternate universe" version of Star Trek I assure you your concerns are unnecessary. This is not a bad AU fanfic where all the characters are women or like, furry robots or something. The characters are all extremely loyal to their original forms to the point where it's almost eerie. For all intents and purposes it is really like going back in time to see the crew of the Enterprise in their early years. The interplay between them all is fantastic and really makes the movie worth watching for that alone. It does, however, have multiple other perks that make it well worth the price of admission.

The special effects are incredible without being overwhelming, and there is just enough action to keep you excited without burying the story.

For the real fans, there are several nods to the original Star Trek which would go unnoticed by newcomers to the series, but they are not so prominent as to detract enjoyment from those unfamiliar with the canon. My personal favourite is the notably symbolic naming of the movie villain. This was a common writing technique of the original series that seemed to be phased out in the later shows and movies. Fear not, fans- this movie was obviously created by a man who not only knew the source but also held it in very high regard.

All in all this is by far one of the best movies I've seen in a while now, both as an adaptation and as a stand alone. Megatron gives this flick a generous five of five energon cubes and recommends it highly to all movie goers this year.

I welcome your own opinions and reviews in replies!

I must thank you, Megatron, my old nemesis. On your recommendation, Ironhide and I went to see Star Trek tonight. It was everything you said. I loved it.

It's fun to see how many things have become part of our culture. I have never seen more than a few minutes of the original Star Trek, so I was worried I wouldn't "get" a lot of things in this movie. But I laughed along with everyone else at the references. And to my shock, I found that I recognize Leonard Nimoy from the back... Seriously, that guy gets to have all the fun in life. [spoiler] Also, after flip-flopping over the years, he finally admits it: he is Spock.
And I wasn't terrified that Syler-Spock would eat my brain, like I'd thought I would be.

Loads of fun. Go see it, if you can.

I give this movie the coveted
***Prime Stamp of Approval***

For me, I had no idea it was supposed to be an "alternate universe" Star Trek. I thought it was just going to tell the real past of the original. I kept expecting everything to right itself out by the end. Well, I was wrong, lol.

I'm not a Star Trek fan, but I still injoyed it. The casting was amazing. Young Spock and Kirk were just so cute! If they make a second one, and I wouldn't be surprised if they did, I will probably go see it.

Not enough Simon Pegg. Also...that was Karl Urban (as McCoy)? I'm impress'd.

I agree with you NB! Simon Pegg was great as was Karl Urban. Heck, all of them were great! I thoroughly enjoyed it and would love to go see it again!
