Episode 10-1-2011--One Shall Rise Pt. 1
Whoof...this one was epic. Lots of lore. Lots of reverses and drama.
I do wonder if June asked OP out and he turned her down, 'cause she got pretty snarky with the big guy, but I am happy to see some sparks between her and Fowler. As second choices go he's not a bad one. I ALMOST felt bad for Megatron. The lousy track record with Unicron continues. And my Prime gets so many points for trying to plead humanity's case with the Chaos-bringer. Very impressive. The Woobs's theory is that all the bad stuff that happens on Earth, all the wars and stuff are the ebil influence of Unicron on the psyche of us people. I doubt that'll prove to be true, but it is a theory I can get behind. I'll withhold my final judgement until ep. 3, but I'm interested to see where it is going.

This ep was a little jarring for me. Lets break it down.
BAD: Complete tornado physics FAIL! June's little hissy fit did NOTHING to further the overall plot. Unicron is apparently a rock lord. Meh: This episode took us from 0 mythos to Unicron/Primus/Original thirteen in NOTHING flat. And they just DUMPED that exposition on us. Interspersing that mythology throughout the entire previous season would have led to a more satisfying payoff, and would have made the history more integral to the characters/story where they are now. Does it make SENSE that Prime would do a continuity/exposition dump at that time? Yes. But it is subpar storytelling. It also makes sense that the kids/government would be ASKING their robot friends about their history/mythos throughout the series. Or even that the robots were eager to share it with a foreign culture. Some fun transformers storytime with Arcee or Bulkhead could have laid the seeds that provided foundation for this continuity dump. Meh, minor quibble. Good: Finally unicorn/unicron lols in canon! Optimus showed wonderful amounts of emotion. Ratchet was funny in his sythesis of faith/reason fluster. Megatron getting shot down by Unicron. No big bad sugar daddy for our Decepticon leader. Unintended lols: Megatron does this weird jazz-hands hip-cocked dance move when he's on the lip of the crater calling to Unicron. HILARIOUS! Also Confirmed! One of the original 13 is a chick! Solus Prime apparently, and she's the ancestor of all the chickformers. Which explains why the guy to girl ratio is so skewed. I don't mind that it's skewed as long as we have a reason! YAY!
