Default Costume ideas and discussion

Yes its mid August, but costume buildy people have probably already started.

Anyways, I'm going out of my way to bother you guys (again), I need help 'cause I'm lacking in the imagination dept.

Enough rambling and on to the the matter at hand. Its a few mounths till hallyween, Lauren said she is going to have a costume party in September and I have no idea what to wear.

Shoudl I go out of my way to make something (cardboard is easy, theres a ton and a half of it at work) or just go store bought/rented.

Oh! You should totally make something! It'd be fun!
Not that I have any idea about the sort of things you should make. We don't celebrate Halloween over here.

Ever seen Danny Phantom? You could be the box ghost!
"I am the box ghost! Master of all things rectangular!"
Seriously, though, I'm still thinking.....did you make a costume last year?

Primus, I'm already tired of costume making. I think it comes from at the two weeks till Dragon*con point having the costume my roomie was planning in the almost done stages when the person making another (armour) piece for the costume up and says "So, yeah, I'm probably not gonna have that armour done by the 28th" - which is the day we leave for the damned thing - "but I've got some great ideas on how to do it " Which is why I'm doing a rush job to get the costume the roomie was going to do next year done in ten days' time.

I'm probably never going to make another costume after this unless it's of the "buy up the pieces and put 'em together, viola!" variety

Oh man, I know about the pre-con crunch time. That's why my friends and I are starting our cosplays eight months early.
Hopefully my Link cosplay will be done by Halloween. But... yerrrghh... Chainmail. Not looking foward to that.

Which reminds me, I'm planning on making a Transformers costume that actually transforms for future cons. My brain already hurts and I haven't even decided who I want to be. I'm leaning towards Blurr.

To be honest, Del, if we do the cons next year (which really depends upon whether her book sells well and we both get raises), I'm planning to start on costumes no later than Thanksgiving. All my family lives up north, and they're talking about not giving university employees time off at Christmas aside from Eve and Day, so that'll give me more time as well... just so long as she doesn't pick something that will require a second person being needed!
