Starscream drinks up
You're cooking what for dinner?

April 30th , 2009

The final day of April.... Work has been absolutely kicking my butt, in every conceivable way. ..Of course I suppose I have my priorities straight right? heh heh... Well that and I have my co-workers to thank for helping me out this week as well as Silverbolt for once again doing a fantastic colouring job. The expressions on Beachcombers face came out really well.

I am pretty tired and have been sitting here zoned out for about 20 minutes listening to old video game music on youtube. So I will end by saying that despite Skywarp being what he is... he is ridiculously loyal.

Silverbolt did a really good job with the colouring and inking, now that I have more time to draw the comic I can draw more detailed frames (and more frames in general) so I think it really helps set the mood here. And then Silverbolt will take the sketches and translate them wonderfully.

I didn't realize how emotional Beachcomber's speech was until I saw the coloured version of the comic and began putting in the text. Well I mean you guys might not find it very emotional but I thought it was a bit sad, especially considering their history and how Beachcomber is such a pacifist robot.

Again, as much as we might like Skywarp... he is a Decepticon.

Silverbolt did a fantastic job this week, especially since my sketches were possibly messier than normal. (But I did try to take some extra time to detail them a little more) And he corrects things like perspective and fully added in Perceptor and Beachcomber in that panel where they're small when I just had them in as shadowy forms in the sketch form.

My head is finally starting to clear a little today, I can't believe the meds still affected me that much even after almost a week. And as I sit surrounded at this moment by a bunch of warhammer/warmachine fans all talking and laughing together while they paint miniatures and talk about parts of the game that I am slowly learning by proxy, I must reinforce how awesome it is to have friends. Going through a life threatening experience makes one sit back, put things in perspective and appreciate your life on a totally new level. Suddenly the little things don't seem like such a burden anymore.

And while I figured I had always been on the low end of my friends priority lists, having to answer the phone calls and text messages and assure people I was all right after I got home and find Silverbolt's comic and read the comforting forum messages it makes me decide to try and relax a little more. Do those things I had been putting off for a little while and enjoy everything that I can. As anyone who knows me can attest to, I worry way, way too much. In fact while in the hospital Friday hooked up to several things at once the first thing that crossed my mind was how I was late for gaming that night, or how I was inconveniencing the friend that was staying with me the entire time. (You know who you are and although I'm sure you never read the comic, your support through that time will be appreciated forever)

Sometimes you forget how much you are actually enjoying yourself. Trust me, as the years go by with startling increasing speed you will remember all of the good times. And there are no good times without bad times either. I'm really lucky, I love drawing this comic and I have a lot of support from you guys and from my friends. Thank you, and I hope you continue to enjoy the comic!

Ratchet out.

Today's Guest Comic is done by Silverbolt! Thanks a ton. This was an extremely last minute request as I unexpectantly had to spend Friday evening in emergency because of some gum that had milk in it. (I have a very bad allergy to milk products)

So 5 hours later I groggily got out of the hospital and have been heavily medicated ever since. So I couldn't do any drawing, actually the only thing I could do was watch TV or play WoW.

Today's inks and colours are by Silverbolt. It worked out really well this week because I went to a hockey game tonight. Our team lost in overtime =/ But it was a really good game. This also accounts for why the update is maybe a little later than usual tonight.

I love writing for Starscream, I can't wait to use him a lot more now. I promised myself after the first story I'd give some of the other robots time in the spotlight but I do miss the arrogant, if not often misplaced arrogance and dialogue. I also love writing for Beachcomber. I think this is the first official Perceptor in colour. I had him in the comic before but with Prowl in a black and white sketch comic.

Thank you again to Silverbolt and Solara for colouring and inking! I've been meaning to bring the twins (or at least one at a time) back into the main story because I enjoyed writing/drawing them before. I also enjoy writing for Astrotrain the egomaniac.

I also needed a bit of a break from drawing the Constructicons/Omega, more so because I felt I was beginning to draw away from the battle, which is the actual threat in the comic at the moment as the Decepticons bore down heading towards Megatron.

Also Happy Easter to those of you who celebrate it, also Happy Passover and anything else I might have missed. I had a relaxing long weekend, that's for sure.

April 9th , 2009

Thank you to Silverbolt for the amazing inking and colouring job. I kept the sketch pictures 'hidden' so neither he nor Solara has really seen the whole of the comic. Drawing Hook from the back was a bit of a nightmare, I'm glad Silverbolt could decipher my very sketchy drawings.

As mentioned in an eariler news post (I forget which one now) I have come up with a method for an origin of the Constructicons that I think makes decent sense using the Omega and season 1 stories.

I seem to be apologizing a lot lately. Now I am apologizing for making a very fast news post as I run out the door to head back to the convention where I have been 90% of the weekend. Thank you so much Megatron for your hilarious comics for today's update. I will be home very late today and I have to work tomorrow which is why there is the insanely early update (Sorry Megatron, I didn't have time to give you any warning this is just what I thought would work best). I love my laptop so I decided to leave it at home, I don't want it stolen or broken at the con I might have to go on a good ol' fashion Autobot medic rampage.

April 2nd , 2009

I apologize for the break again in the storyline, but it's been really busy these past couple of weeks. I'm doing minor help with an upcoming convention in town but it's still taking up some time. Megatron is going to be supplying Monday's comic too since the con is this weekend.

I've always wanted to do this comic since I remember going to the theatre in 2007 to see the first Bayformers movie and I saw people with Autobot and Decepticon shirts and I wondered briefly what would happen if two people were on a first date and they realized they liked the opposing factions... and if this would cause problems...? I hope you enjoy the comic because I've been dying to draw it. I couldn't think up a title to save my life, so you know who you are that thought it up, thank you. (I know you never read the forums anyway.. heh heh)
