Comics in Disguise

Ratchet OuchOwww oww owww... Mmmm... owww owww...

Thanks today to Zatnik for inking some panels for today! It helped a ton, my wrist still isn't at it's best and inking/colouring is the part that puts the most strain on it I find. The panels she inked were the first one (Starscream looking up), the Bruticus panels, and the last one with Devastator's arm. I wouldn't have able to post the comic without her help :)

The combiners are very complicated and take a ton of time, but I've been wanting to bring them in for a while. I hope my wrist will feel much better soon, thanks again for everyone's kind words of concern.

Only a few more weeks to go for guest comic submissions - please email them to me at info@comicsindisguise.com or ratchet@comicsindisguise.com. I look forward to everyone's comics, the ones I've gotten so far are freeken hilarious, keep 'em coming people :D

Today's comic is a hilarious Megatron comic. Which reminds me, we haven't seen a Megatron comic in ages. But that's best friends for ya, always ready to bail ya out in times of crisis. My wrist is feeling better.. it still gets really sore at work but what can you do... As long as it starts to heal. I won't be playing hockey for about a week and a half so that should give it lots of time to heal too. Again, thanks Megatron! You're a lifesaver. ...which is ironic...

So last night I was up a little late getting the comic finished. This is actually about the average for me during the summer months, when I have a lot of hockey and soccer going on. The only difference is for my new job I have to get up an hour earlier than my last one *yawn* so sometimes I have to pull myself away.
I'm decently happy with this comic - I wanted to give Devastator a big entrance and build up some suspense (since we all knew it was coming anyway).

Unfortunately, a side effect of my many hours this weekend putting the comic together and probably my hockey game yesterday, is that my wrist is now bruised and generally out of commission for a few days. Luckily Megatron is stepping like the best friend he is and he'll have a comic up for our regular update Wednesday. Hooray for friends! And his comics are always hilarious.

And we're back into the storyline at full-tilt these last couple of panels. Before we can have a huge battle royale of Decepticons vs. Autobots, naturally we have to have a huge battle royale of Decepticons vs. Decepticons. In truth, it's a good set up to have a nice Devastator vs. Bruticus battle, which was always in my original plans. Sometimes my storylines will vary from page or page, or as I'm going along I'll change certain things or they'll change on their own organically. But Soundwave and Shockwave charging in with Devastator on their heels to threaten Starscream was always on my list of things that must happen. That's why I set the Combaticons coming to Starscream almost a full year ago. It's going to be fun to draw. It'll be good practice for the battle that lies ahead... Oh yes, there will be more Autobots/fembots in the meanwhile too, I like to switch around to the different groups.

So I coloured it - re-wrote it, re-draw pictures, inked, etc. I hope everyone likes the 'new' and improved version. I've taken the old version down, because it's basically a storyboard for this new comic which I'd like to be the only one in continuity, but you can view the old one from our deviant art gallery.
Devcon has always fascinated me as a Transformers fan. In fact I'd even be inclined to write an entire story dedicated just to him.
But for now we continue with the Retribution storyline, enjoy!

(I have Thursday's comic basically ready to go, but this one is soooo long I decided just to post it and save the rest for the next update. I can redo a lot with it too in the meantime.)

So I've had a bit of a busy week this week, two sport games one day after another - but that's how it gets in the summertime, but it does get me into some form of shape after a while. Today however, was not very summer-y, it was cold, windy and rainy and thankfully our game ended about 30 minutes before it started to pour. However we DID actually manage to win. (I think that's our first win of the season) And we didn't JUST win, we beat the other team pretty handily. So it wasn't all bad.

Anyhow, to make a long story short, that's the reason why today's comic is in black and white. Well that and I forgot my light table at my parent's yesterday and couldn't ink. But when I realized that, I drew a lot more drawings (5 pages worth actually) so I hope the story and sketches make up for the black and white. Poor Smokescreen.

I hope everyone had a good weekend. Mine was actually quite relaxing. I had to housesit at my parent's place Saturday so I ended up watching TV pretty much all day and night (after I finished inking).
The Constructicons are back! Well in the comic at least, they've already taken over the forums. Enjoy!

June 5th , 2008

Today's joke actually comes from my tired sarcastic self today. Last night I had another one of those nights of 'soccer then hockey'. Where the hockey game started at 10:50 at night. So today I'm pretty stiff... and sore... so I was joking at the office that I was getting in such great shape (ha!) and strong (ha again!) that I would be able to break them over my knee. Then I joked that no, I was getting SO strong I could break their bones with my MIND.
And then I thought, "heh.. that's kind of funny actually."

I'm enjoying these shorter comics that go back to the same kind of funny I started out with, as I've said before, I like mixing it up.

June 2nd , 2008

New month... new news page! Don't forget everyone if you want to donate to the 2008 CiD 'annual' (for CiD's bday in July) I am accepting submissions until July. (Also we need comics for that week's guest comic week)
So that leaves you now with one month. You can send everything to me at ratchet@comicsindisguise.com or info@comicsindisguise.com.

I've been pretty serious lately with our storylines, and the reason for this is I like to mix it up... Also I like the diversity you can get from throwing in funny comics when they're countered with serious ones. But for now, we're going back to 'funny' (funny being subjective of course... ha ha) for a little bit. Especially with the fembots lurking around. (Or lurking around Jazz as it may be)

comicsindisguise.com is an unofficial generation 1 transformers fan site and dedicated to all of you who, like myself, grew up watching the Autobots and Decepticons battle it out. The comics are mainly based off the original cartoon series which began in 1984.
